Is it just me, or is it every generation that thinks the quality of their music, their movies, sitcoms, toys were better than what's on offer today for kids. I remember "Grease" being "The Musical". I attempted to watch High School Musical but it looks airbrushed and the values that are on display make me worry about what kids retain and repeat. One song particularly gets my ire "I want it all". In the "me" no "delayed gratification" era this is a dangerous message to be communicating ...
“But mom I’m bored!’ is my daughter’s regular chant - she is an only child, and as such I need to double as parent and play mate - chatting to dollies, sipping imaginary tea and running around finding fabulous hiding places. But as a working mother, with not much free-time available, sometimes the urge to let her zone out in front of the tv, instead of playing together, is a tempting one.
